"This, my dear friends, is a story that will take you to the highest mountains of Sweden, to frozen lakes, to darkness and cold nights, struggles and failures, but also to sunshine, powder, and never-ending days in the north. Settle in, grab a drink (we prefer coffee) and let me tell you about an unforgettable journey in the northern parts of Sweden.” / Malou & Kajsa

8000 thousand years ago the Sami people, the indigenous people of Sweden, invented a transportation that has made a great impact on the culture we live in today. Gliding on wooden sticks allowed them to move more easily in the harsh cold north.

From ancient times to the present skiing have had a significant role in the Scandinavian culture. Kings and Queens have made their way through the land and wars have been fought with skis on their feet.

On a runestone in Sweden, made by vikings, the oldest picture of a skier can be found. The skier pictured is Ullr, the god of snow within norse mythology. Skadi, the Norse goddess of winter and skiing. She rules over mountains, wildernesses, winter, revenge, knowledge, justice, and independence.

Skadi is determined to live how she wants and not be told by the gods of Asgard. Since then the Swedish female skiers have carried on the legacy of Skadi and skiing and made it to what it is today.

Now Kajsa and Malou will do the same, through the rugged weather, darkness and light, with Skadi as their guidance.
